Bed mat stuck to truck bed — the water drain fix that saved my liner

My rubber bed mat started sticking to the truck bed after about 6 months. When I tried to pull it out, chunks of rubber came off. Water was getting trapped underneath and creating a suction seal.

I lifted the mat, dried both sides with a towel, and let it air out for 24 hours. Then I drilled four 1/2-inch drain holes — one at each corner — through the mat only (not the bed). Water now drains through instead of pooling. No more sticking.

If you have a full rubber mat, check underneath after a rain. If it's wet, drill drainage holes or switch to a raised rubber mat with built-in channels.
