Spray-on bedliner vs drop-in: I had both on the same 2020 Silverado over 5 years

2020 Silverado 1500 5'8" bed. July 2021 I paid $1,200 for a Line-X spray-on at the local shop. July 2024 I sold that truck and bought the same model — this time I went drop-in, $450 from a big-box store. Same bed, same use (tools, firewood, the occasional gravel haul), two different liners. I have 5 years of side-by-side notes.

The spray never moved, never trapped water, never let anything slide. The drop-in trapped rainwater against the bed floor starting month 14 — first rust spot under the driver-side wheel well by April 2025. If I had to pick again for a truck I plan to keep 7+ years, spray wins. If it's a 3-year lease or a work truck that gets beat up anyway, drop-in is the math play.
