Retractable cover rail squeak — graphite powder, not silicone spray

My BAK MX rail started squeaking after 8 months. Grabbed the silicone spray I use on door hinges. Made it worse — the rails got sticky and attracted dust. Called BAK support. They said use graphite powder, not silicone. Bought a $4 tube of graphite powder at Home Depot. Applied to the rail tracks, worked the cover back and forth 10 times. Squeak gone. 3 weeks later, still quiet.

Silicone spray is great for rubber seals and weatherstripping, but it attracts dust on metal-on-metal contact surfaces. Graphite powder is the right lubricant for tonneau rails. Don't make the same mistake I did.
